MPO Solicits Applications for Vacancies on Advisory Committees

The Collier Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is a board comprised of elected officials from the Collier County Board of County Commissioners, City of Marco Island, City of Everglades, and City of Naples, which makes transportation funding and policy decisions throughout Collier County.  The MPO receives formal input from five advisory committees. There is citizen representation on three of these committees, (1) Citizen Advisory Committee (CAC), (2) Local Coordinating Board (LCB) for the Transportation Disadvantaged, and (3) Pathways Advisory Committee (PAC).  The MPO is soliciting applications for citizen vacancies on each of these committees:

                    Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC)

The CAC reviews and provides feedback on all plans that are presented to the Collier MPO Board for its approval.  These plans include the Long-Range Transportation Plan, Five-Year Transportation Improvement Program, and annual priorities for state and federal funding.  The CAC meets on the last Monday of each month at 3 p.m. at the Transportation Services Division, Main Conference Room, 2885 South Horseshoe Drive, Naples.  MPO Board members representing the corresponding County Commission districts or municipalities nominate residents from their districts to fill the vacancies. Those nominees apply for a seat on the CAC and must receive the endorsement of the elected body from the area that he or she will represent (The Board of County Commissioners, Naples City Council, Marco Island City Council, and Everglades City). After endorsement, the MPO Board must ratify the nominee. At this time, there are six vacancies for the following seats on the CAC:

       • City of Naples- 2 seats
       • Collier County Commission District 4
       • Persons with disabilities
       • Everglades City

Local Coordinating Board (LCB) for the Transportation Disadvantaged

The LCB oversees the county’s door-to-door Transportation Disadvantaged (TD) Program service for its elderly, disabled, and low-income residents. The LCB meets quarterly on the second Wednesday of the designated month at 10 a.m. at the Domestic Animal Services, 7610 Davis Boulevard, Naples. At this time, there is one vacancy open to the public on the LCB:

       • Local Medical Community

                    Pathways Advisory Committee (PAC)

The PAC reviews and provides feedback on pathways/sidewalks and greenway projects that are presented to the Collier MPO Board for approval and the committee prioritizes projects within Collier County on an annual basis for state, federal, and local funding.  The PAC meets on the first Friday of each month at 9:30 a.m. at the Collier County School District’s Administration Center, Room 103, 5775 Osceola Trail, Naples. At this time, there is one vacancy for the following seat on the PAC:

       • Citizen At Large
