The Collier MPO is pleased to introduce the logo for the 2035 Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP)! The logo depicts all types of transportation modes. It was developed co-operatively by the LRTP consultants, Lee County MPO and Collier MPO.
The LRTP is a very important planning tool for the Collier metropolitan planning area. The plan addresses all modes of transportation, evaluates the movement of people and goods, and takes safety, non-capacity and non-highway needs into consideration. The LRTP is required to cover a planning horizon of at least 20 years. Currently, the Collier MPO works from the adopted 2030 LRTP, which was last amended in 2007.
In February 2009, Lee County and Collier MPOs joined forces to update their respective LRTPs to the horizon year 2035 using one consultant, but two contracts, to ensure consistency between the two plans.
On June 17, the Collier and Lee County MPOs held a joint public workshop at the Three Oakes Banquet and Convention Center in Estero and presented an overview of the 2035 LRTP process and sought questions and comments from elected officials and the public. The LRTP development process will continue until December 2010. Regional coordination will be ongoing throughout the development of the LRTPs for Lee County MPO and Collier MPO.
