What is a Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO)?

A MPO is an agency created under Federal law to direct urban transportation planning and the allocation of federal and state funds for urbanized areas of 50,000 or more people.

Who are the members of the Collier MPO?

The Collier MPO is made up of two elected officials from The City of Naples, one elected official from The City of Marco Island, one elected official from Everglades City, and all five Collier County Commissioners.

What are the committees of the MPO?

The committees of the MPO are the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC), the Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC), the Pathways Advisory Committee (PAC), Congestion Management System/Intelligent Transportation Systems Stakeholders Committee (CMS/ITS), and the Local Coordinating Board (LCB) for the Transportation Disadvantaged.

Is the MPO a County or City Department?

No, the MPO staff is administratively housed within the Collier County Transportation Planning Department of the Transportation Services Division but the MPO Board is a separate body from the Collier County Board of County Commissioners.
